A Way to Show Friendship (Dana)

A New Year has come and new things ahead of us awaits. New friends, new expieriences and new conflicts. As they say friends come and go but thoughts of them never do. As time flies we create new friends and in some cases we forget our old friends. Why? I personally agree with that because I create new friends and tried to get to know them more and realizing I'm not spending my time with my old friends anymore. But I have 2 very close friends of mine. Even though one is going out of the country we still keep our friendship strong buy storing good memories and thoughts of us being together. Another way is by using friendship charms or in our case bracelets. These trinkets are used to symbolize strong and lasting friendships and helps us never forget each other.

One of my friends gave me and my other friend friendship bracelets. She gave it on our first day of classes after the Christmas break. Hers is red, my other friend's is brown and mines blue. The bracelet is too lose for me but I will still wear it always to remember our friendship. That friend who gave me the bracelet is very thoughtful because she still remembered us during the long Christmas break. She holds and treasures her friends.

When she gave us the bracelet we did a short ritual.
Friend: Hey! Here a friendship bracelet for the new year.
Us: thanks!
Friend: Can I put it on you? My mom said its a ritual. Here you go just pull the string to tighten it.
(Idid that but it was no use)

Its good to have a friend like her. A friend who is really there when you need her. A friend who is there in good times and in bad times. I suggest you do that too. Give little trinkets to your friend to express your love and care to them. I'm sure they will be happy and their hearts would be touched because they would realize that you value and help them get out of problems like a treasure chest buried in sand.

This is the Moment

Last December 30, 2006 we had a party. This is because our tita is going to another country to work as a nurse. Our second degree cousins, aunts and uncles attended. We ate dinner with a touch of Japanese food. The children played while the adults chattered.

We also sang in the karaoke. We had a sing-along contest and shouted at the top of our voices. The adults complained with the noise we were creating. But it was fun.

To Tita Teng and family, happy trip and good luck!

A Different New Year Welcome

We have a tradition that every year we would gather and celebrate new year at our province Cauayan, Isabela. But celebrating the coming of 2007 is different. Why? Because this year we held our celebration at Manila. Everything was different. The atmosphere, surroundings, and the flow of the new year program.

The fun started at 9:00 pm. Us, together with our cousins, went outside to light "piccolo". That is a safe "paputok" for children 5 and above. Without this our new year's eve celebration isn't complete. We attended a new year's eve mass. There were 9 of us who went to the church but unfortunately there were only 4 of us who finished the mass till the end.

We had a barbecue party and danced till the new year began. We lighted fireworks and watched others too. Now that is the most different thing that we did this New Year. When we were in the province only some lighted fireworks but now it was the opposite. Everywhere you look there are fireworks. Different colors, kinds and combinations.

When we finished the fireworks event we had our kris kringle. We do this at new year because it is the only time of the year that all of us see each other.

What a wonderful welcome to the year of the Fire Pig.
